AARP Magazine Features Dirty Hospitals

January 8th, 2007 · 3 Comments

rid-for-website1AARP is featuring an article, Dirty Hospitals, this month in their magazine. The article is chock full of sad statistics (”Some 2 million patients get a hospital-acquired infection every year.”), and features Dr. Betsy McCaughey, from RID:

A leading light of that movement is Betsy McCaughey, a health policy expert and former lieutenant governor of New York. She founded the nonprofit Committee to Reduce Infection Deaths—RID—two years ago after hearing the story of Brad Moore of Washingtonville, N.Y.

Read the rest of the article to find out what Betsy and others are doing to help make hospitals accountable for their infection rates. And consider a tax-deductible donation to RID, they are absolutely doing the right thing, and your money will be put to good use. From RID:

RID is working hard to improve hospital hygiene, make hospital infection rates public for all to see, and provide patients with steps they can take to reduce the risk of a hospital infection. Please support our work with a gift of $25, $50, $100.00 , or whatever you can manage. Consider making your gift in memory of someone you love. Please send your check payable to RID to:

The Committee to Reduce Infection Deaths (RID)
Apt. 13C
1111 Park Avenue
New York, New York 10128

We will use your money wisely. More than 90% of contributions go directly to support our programs. We have little overhead, because office space and secretarial help are donated. We receive no government funding. Your contribution will be fully tax-deductible.

They are working so hard for this very important issue, and are making headway. Please help them out if you can.
