Christina, I appreciate the work you are doing in educating the public about this disaster of our medical environment.
It is only through education and knowledge that we can deal with these issues. But the Medical world seems to want to operate in a state of Denial.
This months issue of ASHRAE Insights, ASHRAE Insights at:
http://www.ashrae.org/publications/detail/16270
“Some 700,000 cases of surgical site infections reportedly occur each year, leading to time away from work, degraded life style, suffering, and in some cases, death. ”
This article is dealing ONLY with the Surgical Room issues! The article goes on to describe how ASHRAE is funding research to attempt to reduce this exposure via how the handle the air in the room.
The don’t go on to relate that already, they are doing 100% air exchange in the surgeries today! and that the problem is pricnipally in the bacteria’s physical presence on surfaces.
There is however an AIR solution using a Technology that NASA developed for space flight. It is called Radiant Catalytic Ionization (RCI) and it kills bacteria and virus’s on all surfaces that the air comes in contact with, BY MEANS OF THE NATURAL OXIDIZERS IN THE AIR!.
It is shown to even kill the dreaded Avian Flu Virus 100% and maintain an environment that will not allow disease to flourish. see http://www.purifyingair.com Click on “Enter the Library” to view and/or print the research documents.
Again, I thank you for your efforts in your commitment to this war on disease!

Germs and MRSAs might be small, but they pose a big problem in healthcare environments. Man & Machine has spent years developing products to fight the spread of MRSAs and other harmful microbes. MMI has created keyboards with no cracks, crevices or seams, which means that germs do not have a place to hide and grow. So disinfecting our really cool keyboards is quick and easy
Our non-porous, latex-free, silicone rubber keyboards and mice are waterproof, dust proof and highly mess-resistant. Most importantly, their rugged construction allows them to be cleaned with alcohol, 10% bleach solutions and other chemical disinfectants.
In environments such as hospitals, where MRSAs can cause serious infections, Man & Machine keyboards definitely puts the power of infection control at the users’ fingertips.
You can check out the products at http://www.man-machine.com

There are some established, practical, economical, demonstrated, heavily-tested and validated protections against MRSA. In use in the US, Canada, and in many countries, including hotels in SE Asia. Ignored thus far by politicians in Virginia, and with interesting events there, particularly.
http://tetradgroup.com/healthysafe gives some pointers, access to lots of tech material.

I am being told that only two cases of MRSA have been found at Caritas Good Samaritan Hospital in Massachusetts. I know who the two are for Oct.2007. Anyone else know of others ?

Christina,
Once again I would like to applaud your efforts to create a venue of interdisciplinary communications for both those who treat and those who need treatment.
In my prior post, I mentioned that it is possible to destroy the MRSA contagians on surfaces wherever the treated air comes in contact with surfaces! Using an available product to treat the air economically and safely, with a technology developed within NASA research. It is recognized by NASA and the Space Foundation on the internet. Three months ago I acquired a Medically approved “Water Ionization & Alkalizing” machine from Japan. This is used in over 250 hospitals there to cure many of the diseases that Western culture tries to heal with drugs.
One of the features of this water ionizer is the development of pure, but acidic water. This water treats external infections of MRSA very effectively. see blog on http://www.purifyingH2O.info of elderly man with severe abcess in groin area. No anitbiotics could heal it, but one week of soaking the packing with acidic water allowed to heal, to Doctor’s surprise.
Many doctors have agreed that Disease cannot thrive in an Alkaline body! we now can achieve this condition in days instead of months, using the Ionizing Alkaline Water process by Enagic of Japan. See 51 pages of information at http://www.purifyingH2O.com

this is a good article. MRSA is no joke. I had it and battled boils and skin rashes for over a year. it makes you real tired, weak, and depressed. i think i got it from an open cut on my shoulder. i was bench pressing at the gym and rubbed against someone else’s sweat. i wrote a lot about it on my site at http://www.infectioncures.com
