Anna Nicole Smith Dead From Septic Staph Infection and Drug Overdose

anna-nicole-smith-staph-infectionI have just heard that the reason for the death of Anna Nicole Smith (which is to be announced officially on Monday morning), is a Staphylococcus aureus infection in her bloodstream (septicemia), along with a drug overdose.

You may remember that her former stepson, Pierce Marshall, who Anna Nicole was in a bitter court battle with over her husband’s fortune, passed away last year from an MRSA infection. I will keep you posted as I hear more information…

I was stunned at the news of Anna Nicole’s death from not only drug use but from septicemia, MRSA, because while I was watching some of the endless news coverage on her death I prayed that they would find MRSA as the cause so we could get some publicity! Keep praying everyone! Even our most outrageous prayers can be answered!

Yes, that could definitely be one good thing that comes out of her death. I have thought for as long as I have been dealing with MRSA that it was going to take a big celebrity to pass away in order to get people to stand up and take notice. I hate it that it has to be that way, but it seems to be the way the ball bounces in this country. Thanks for the comment Rhoda. ;)

Reading further into the Anna Nicole story I found an article that says she acquired the infection from a dirty needle and that there was the characteristic boil on her buttocks at the injection site. Since my blog has been focused a lot on needle sharing and MRSA this has really caught my attention! Please feel free to check my blog at the website listed above!

Staph infection is a very bad and scary thing.

OK, but you don’t have to postulate a needle to explain a boil on the buttocks. They’ve been around since Job got them. Spread to the bloodstream is a possible complication.

My beautiful sister of only 38, died a few years
ago from a staff infection that went septic. She had problems breathing and my mother rushed her to the hospital, they sent her home. 6 hours later she could barely breathe and went back to the Emergency and they admitted her right away and put her on a venalator and she died 4 days later. I would like to please know some other similiar experiences from people that this has hit home. She was healthy and only 38. Nothing on her body to make you think she had an infection. I just came through the nose. I am wondering if the hospital is at fault at all for sending her home the first time. With the blood infections…they need to treat immediately. I don’t quite know if the scenario of treating my sister is accurate because I missed everything…my mother said she couldn’t get ahold of me and didn’t try because of our not so great relationship and now I am devastated because I lost my beautiful sister and best friend at such a young age. I am distraught. I hope to hear of anything from any of you. I just want to be with my beautiful sister Kathleen Marie Asay. Kathleen Marie what a beautiful name and person.
