I have mentioned bacteriophages and phage therapy a number of different times over the time I have been writing about MRSA, but it seems to be finding its way into my life more than normal lately, via questions from MRSA patients and caregivers and articles of late. I hope this slight increase in buzz might mean that there might be some hope of phage therapy coming to the US. Phages are in our deli’s now - maybe they will be coming to a clinic near you next - so far we have to go out of the US to find it.
RedOrbit has an article today about how bacteriophages can help the efficacy of antibiotic therapy. Keep talking about it, maybe we can get it to the US sooner rather than later - we need it.
I have an easy to understand story about how bacteriophages work to kill bacteria in your body, so check it out if you want a good laymens explanation.
