This is a mighty interesting article - this Hawaiian man contracted MRSA in a lesion on his foot and although the “state” says there is no way to prove that the infection came from the beach, this man disagrees. Do these government (and hospital!) officials really think there is no way to prove this, or are they trying to convince us, the ignorant public, that there is no way that we can prove it, so we won’t even try? From KHON2:
The Koenigs understand staph aureus is all around us, but firmly believe the source of this infection was sewage-tainted sand along Waikiki Beach, following the city’s 48 million gallon sewage dump into the Ala Wai Canal.Koenig is a beach comber, who digs for buried treasure with his foot.
“I think the concentration of bacteria was so big and that’s what he got it,” says Christine Koenig, wife.
“I think it was 100 percent. I was only on the beach, come home and I got this infection,” says Koenig.
He’s so convinced he’s willing to do an experiment for state officials.
“I take a knife, I cut, and place, place, go to the toilet, put this in the toilet and we wait if I get here this infection,” says Koenig. “I take all that, I said to the TV, to the newspaper take back and say, OK this was my fault.”
The state has repeatedly said it’s impossible to prove the infection came from sand. Koenig believes otherwise and says many have thanked him for coming forward.
Koenig has returned to beach looking for buried treasure. Only now, he wears shoes.
