Disgusting Hospital in Alberta Closes

March 21st, 2007 · No Comments

vegreville-hospital-closedThis is a horrible story and is appalling in this day and age. St. Joseph’s General Hospital in Vegreville, Alberta Canada has been closed down to new admissions and to visitors for two major reasons. There has been a recent spread of MRSA through its patients, and in the process of investigating that problem, health care authorities have discovered that the hospital was using dirty tools on surgical patients “after a recent audit found bits of flesh and blood left on tools and inside scopes used to examine patients and take tissue samples.”

OMG. I know I visualize scalpels with meat hanging off them, and I am sure it wasn’t that bad, but still. There is absolutely no excuse for this. What would the reasoning be for this happening? Trying to save money on cleaning bills? Sheer laziness? Either answer is criminal, I think.
