The Morris Daily Herald has an article about the newest doctor in Morris, Illinois, an Infectious Disease specialist by the name of Dr. John Bolden.
Bolden said one of the more important aspects of his position is infection control in the hospital. Especially scary is MRSA, methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus bacteria. It’s becoming more common in hospitals and the community in general due to the overuse and misuse of antibiotics, Bolden explained.
Physicians need to hold strong when their patients ask them for unnecessary antibiotics, he said, and patients need to realize how dangerous it can be to take antibiotics. If used improperly, they can cause bacteria to mutate to strains that aren’t killed by antibiotics.
“It comes down to education of primary physicians,†Bolden said. “When you give antibiotics to cases where there is not a strong need, for example, a viral infection, it can create problems.â€Â
Welcome, Dr. Bolden, and thank you for all you do!!

My dad recently spend about 40 days in the hospital for what started off as a Colon problem. This quickly escalated into MANY different ailments, cellulitis, and then MRSA. With the help and patience of Dr. Bolden, he managed to make it through a few surgeries that we didn’t think he would make it through. Long story short. I have, in the few months, had probably about 100 boils on my legs and some in my groin area. Some have gotten very ugly, most very painful. I am concerned that I have MRSA. What steps should I take? I have not been ILL per say but my son just showed up with a boil. I am afraid that I have this and am passing it to my 4 children. Do I simply skip the middle man and make an appointment with Dr. Bolden? IF anyone has advice I would greatly appreciate it.
