Dr. Mercola on Probiotics

April 30th, 2007 · 2 Comments

This is a video from Dr. Mercola about probiotics – which are the good bacteria that lives in your system. I have written more information about probiotics and how they relate to your MRSA, and you can read more about Dr. Mercola’s probiotics as well. He is trying to sell you his probiotics in this video, but he has lots of useful information there as well.

Do you use probiotics? Why do you use them and how have they worked for you?

my friend has had C Dif for 6 months and has been prescribed one antibiotic after another. Can you recommmend an effective probiotic for this condition. She’s desperate!

    Hi Valerie,

I had a C diff infection in 2005. My doctor treated me with the only 2 antibiotics that work for C diff. I couldn’t tolerate either one of them though, because my stomach wouldn’t keep them down. The doc said there was nothing else to try and I was on my own. Then I began to eat yogurt (not the sugary kind, but plain yogurt, a good brand with active culture). That worked, and I got well. For some people, yogurt might not provide enough active culture and it would be best to buy a reliable, tested probiotic from a health food store.

A couple of times, when I wasn’t eating the yogurt, the C diff came back, but went away when I resumed eating yogurt.

If she is still having trouble (I hope not!) maybe this will help.

    Mary
