Kellyville teen dies of rare infection (Oklahoma)

December 28th, 2005 · 1 Comment

Sean Hurst, age 15, passed away on Monday after a short battle with MRSA.  Our hearts and prayers go out to his family, who seem to have really been through an unbelievable amount of trauma this year.  God bless them, and remember how important it is to let people know about this vicious bacteria, and how they can prevent it from invading their lives.

Here is the story, from the Sapulpa Daily Herald in Sapulpa, OK.

I’m so sorry to hear that this MRSA was not caught sooner. Our son is at home right now taking IV antiobiotics 3x a day. He broke his ankle , came down with pneumonia, had 2 trips to the ER and was admitted to Seattle Children’s Hosp, then transferred to OU Children’s . He has infection in the sternum ,left knee and right groin. All of this was spread by MRSA. He never had any open lesions that were found on the body!!!. He does play basketball and baseball and works out in a gym. He hopes to recover in time to play basketball in Nov.
Please tell young children , athletes and coaches about this. Thank you Dana from Shawnee,Ok 7-26-07
