this past week is actually the first time i have heard of MRSA! my son has a recurring infection on his face (has had it for several years). next time he has it, i think i will take him to have a culture done. his pediatrician gave me antibacterial and antiviral RXs b/c she didn’t know what it was (if it was viral or bacterial). i have always used colloidal silver on it, and it cleared it up. colloidal silver can be ingested as well as applied topically – it kills bacteria, viruses and fungi. it might be worth a try. i’d be interested in hearing if anyone else has tried this.

I am 27 and I’ve had MRSA for over a year. I contracted it from a hospital where I used to work. I have studied everything about it plus been to plenty of doctors and im still infected. The virus is constantly evolving andit is difficult to find the right medication for you. The longer you are infected, the longer it could take to heal. The best thing is to take all the meds the docs give you and to change meds often. The virus will become immune to meds if taken too long. Sometimes it helps to get special soaps and lotions from the doc. And a little herbal meds to keep you from catching anything else from other people helps too.

  • Kris // Dec 26, 2007 at 12:40 am

MRSA is made to seem really worse than it actually is on TV. I’m 23 and have had over 15 MRSA staph infections since I was 19. Get antibiotics Septra, or Bactrim, I was sometimes prescribed both. Don’t be so afraid of it, unless you let it persist and don’t seek medical attention.

  • ann blanshan // Dec 26, 2007 at 2:01 am

My son is in prison and they don’t care about what happens to any of the people that are in there. There are 4 people to dat besides my son that has gotten it. It really flustrates me that I can’t get them to get off there butts and do something about it. Before my son got in trouble , he saw a doctor that literally cut his arm wide open and inch deep and a inch long so the infection could drain out of his arm. His arm had turned red and had a fever under it. That is what has saved him to this day, because he would have been in the hospital or dead if it hadn’t been taken care of the way it was. The Lord knew that he was going to be in a place that wasn’t going to take it seriously. He has been hardly breaking out and I pray continueously for his safe return. God has his hand on him and he will help all of you out there also. Just ask him and do you know that every prayer is heard, and acted upon, in his time. God bless and I will keep praying for all of you that are coming down with it. Don’t give up. There is hope and God’s on your side. Please pray for my son. Thank you. Ann Blanshan

Tom, go to the doctor, inquire about Bactroban. Its a cream that was prescribed to me. I’m in the military and they take mrsa seriously here. Bactroban is a cream that you apply inside the nostrils and underneath your fingernails(where the majority of mrsa bacteria lives), do this 3-4 days out of the month. I’m actually a carrier of it, I’ve had close to 20 boils on my body since I was 18 because of mrsa and I haven’t had a problem since using this.

  • Don // Jan 15, 2008 at 5:48 pm

The sky is falling…people put on the big boy pants…this is not a virus..its bacterial, translation can be cured….difficult….I found out I have it in October…1st time in Sept came back a week after the antibiotics ran out, Cultured it, came back again for the 3rd time in Oct….the derm freaked sent me to and ID…no big deal….Doxy combined with Rif….bleach everything in the house…dont reuse towels and wash your hands often…..I’m tired of the listening to the crying here…I’ve had atopic derm since I was 18 months, I’m 42 and constantly scratch so i’ve always got something or catching it….Sure it can be serious but you might get hit by truck before then….To much of a pity party….I wish you would keep this site informative.

  • ann // Jan 16, 2008 at 1:34 am

    don,
Don’t give up. There is hope. My son has had yhis for almost 3 years now, and he is in prison. He just got a very strong medicine that seems to be working. It comes in a cream and pills, but is very strong stuff. Sounds like your ready for that kind of treatment and no messing around this time. It is called Bactroban. Hope that you can get on this and it will help.

There is a report on a Chinese Herbal formula called Bu Zhong Yi Qi Tang that has successfully helped five bed-ridden people to become MRSA negative in a hospital in Japan. Here is the web link: http://findarticles.com/p/articles/mi_m0HKP/is_2000_Summer-Fall/ai_69540132

Andrew Weil also recommends a herb called astragalus which is found in the Bu Zhong Yi Qi Tang formula. http://www.drweil.com/drw/u/QAA400262/mrsa-fending-off-the-superbug

I highly recommend going to a Chinese Herbalist to get checked out on which formula will help strengthen your immune system against this dangerous bacteria.

  • Katy // Feb 2, 2008 at 12:56 am

I think I may have mrsa on my chin. They look like pimples and u can pop them but they don’t pop like pimples do.. (when I first noticed it, it was after about a month of tanning, and they started out as tiny skin colored bumps, then to pimple like, nowhere other then my chin) They kindof itch and burn sometimes. For a second I started to think it was poisin Ivy. My moms a nurse and she said I need to go to the doctor and tell them u think it may be mrsa. It went to an Urgent care clinic because I’m out of town. He said no thats not mrsa you have pimples. He only looked. He said If I had Mrsa I wouldn’t be able to stand it and would be in so much pain. But now that I’ve been reading up on it, it seems it very well could be. Help! do u think this sounds like MRSA?????

  • katy // Feb 2, 2008 at 1:47 am

you may have gotten sun burned on your chin. I’m no doctor but my sister tans everyday of the week throughout the whole year and she can get bumps on her like that, but maybe check with another doctor just to be safe. It would be better to be safe then sorry. I will pray for you.

There is a cure for MRSA called Silver Shield from Nature’s Sunshine. It cured me within 1 week. Please email me with questions.

  • Stefanie // Feb 9, 2008 at 10:59 am

My daughter had MRSA last year and it took 6 months before she didn’t have an outbreak of it. Its interesting because she was allergic to the treatment commonly used. If it gets out of control the doctors can administer IV meds like vankomycin its commonly used to treat Staph in people who have allergies to meds as well as the Methicillin resistance form. Keep you head high and its ok to be upset. You have every right in the world! Clorox Anywhere bleach works well for disinfecting the house and is safe on furniture food and pets. Spray everything from draparies to box springs.

    Good luck to all!

  • Student1234 // Feb 16, 2008 at 8:27 pm

Just to correct a post above, Methicillin Resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) is a bacterium, not a virus. It is a multi-resistant form of S. aureus.

The reality is that many of us (40%) are natural carriers of this bacterium, carrying it mainly in our nares. Vancomycin appears to be the most effective drug against the resistant strain’s infection, yet its use is highly discouraged. The best way to prevent it, is simply good hygeine. Avail of the alcohol hand wash when visiting a patient in hospital and as ad campaigns in Ireland are advising….ask your doctor has he/she washed their hands. This has proved a success to date. Another way to combat/prevent further infections is to apply antiseptic to the nares (where it is carried) and practice good hygeine at home. This should keep the nasty bug at bay.

This site needs to be more informative as one user has suggested, and less of a place to worry about a bug that doesn’t have a noticeable effect on 90% of the population. It is mainly contracted during nosocomial care or rarely through bad hygeine or excessive scratching of one’s self. We’ve cultured it in the lab, and although it is resistant to about 5+ main antibiotics, we have seen, and continue to see there are means of treatment so don’t panic.

  • Lindsey // May 2, 2008 at 11:12 pm

Yes this should be a place for more information and less panic. I had MRSA around last November and it cleared up in about a week or so. I had joked about it with my friends before I knew what I had and then was shocked to find out I had it. Not all cases are the same. I caught mine almost as soon as I saw it. Times like this you have to watch out but don’t freak over everything. Panic just stresses out your body more and makes everything worse.

  • Nick Thompson // May 10, 2008 at 1:06 am

You people are out of your minds. OK on a health website, get this, it says do not use public pools, saunas, hot tubs, gym equipment, towels, rags, kitchen tops etc. OK so if MRSA is an actual disease do you want to know how many people don’t know about it!!! I just found out about it right now. That means if i were to think i had it right now, that all those hot tubs i went in all those saunas and pools and all those people with open wounds in there, and all those those people who got it and all those people, basically everyone would have it. Maybe its due to the fact that greasy and oily foods have become the standard and all that excess oil and food clogs pores, and the fact that infected hair follicles are a way of life. Your body doesn’t grow hair perfect everytime and you irritate it with shaving and your clothes are constantly rubbing your skin. Getting antibiotics doesnt neccessarily make you immune to anything, its a dead virus, or in some cases its very alive. So you increase the chance of getting that virus. And increase the chance of everyone else getting it because its immune to the antibodies. Viruses are an iffy subject. Look at the HIV virus. Majic Johnson has had it for like 40 years. So are those people in Africa dieing from AIDS or just thier terrible living conditions? Is that why there is a sense of hopelessness to help them, because were fighting a virus and not a problem? Honestly AIDS is your immune system dieing. GUESS WHAT THAT HAPPENS TO EVERYONE!!! That’s why old people get sick easier duh. Seriously no wonder there’s no free health care you morons eat these pills up like sex.

  • Amanda // May 11, 2008 at 2:02 pm

I just wanted to let you know that this is something serious. I have been struggling with MRSA for five years now. I watched it kill my grandmother in about 5 days. Some people are very scared and you have a right to be. I personally like living and I am married with two kids and I would hate to put them in danger because of something I have. We take this very seriously. You don’t need to come on here and harass these poor people who are scared to death. Some of you think you know everything about this and I just want to ask you… since you know so damn much why aren’t you making the big bucks and well known for your cure for MRSA. You can’t cure it and even if you could its going to be something else.

  • Amit // May 26, 2008 at 11:46 am

Our body was created by God and in God’s image. It has immense ability to fight and prevail over any diseases, after all the entire creation belongs to God. The best way to resolve stubborn illness like MRSA etc is to trust in God and accept God’s world as it is. Let the disease take its course, do not let it affect your mind. As soon as you allow your mind to be affected, the ego takes over and does not allow the healing energies. So in effect we become our own worst enemies.
Do not get too bothered by these infections, let the mind be free and the body will run its own course and the cure will be manifested in due course. Never leave patience. God is calmness and patience, if we let go of that calmness and allow the ego to create its kingdom of fear, anxiety, anger and frustration we become victims and disease continues. Remember it is the kingdom of fear, anxiety, anger and frustration that is the source of all disease.

Pray with love and God will heal everyone.

    Peace.

Hi I just finished my 4 years in the United States Marine Corps and three years ago I did an 8 month tour of duty in Iraq and was diagnosed with M.R.S.A and I have been to several docs but I am going on 3 and a half years infected and still no cure, and its getting worse! No help, and no treatments that work at all. Oh well, everybody gotta die some time right?

My boyfriend thinks he has MRSA and i am frankly scared off my mind to think he might have it because that means i could be infected to. I seriously dont know alot about MRSA and it gets me frustrated because there is no cure for it…Do you usually get outbreaks anywhere in your body? or do you get them in a certain part? Gosh I wish I knew more and their was a cure for this because it hurts my heart to think my boyfriend could have these.

HELLO MY HUSBAND ITS BEEN FIGHTING WITH MRSA FOR TWO YEARS NOW, HE BEEN ON BACTROBAN AND CLYNDAMICIN FOR MORE THAN TWO TIMES IN LESS THAN TWO YEARS. I NEED TO KNOW HOW I CAN FIND THE PRODUCT THAT YOU SAID THAT CIRES YOU IN 1 WEEK. PLEASE HELP ME WITH THIS.

  • Leslie // Jul 2, 2008 at 6:21 pm

MRSA took my husband in 72 hours. He caught a cold, it went to his lungs. He went in to see the doctor on Saturday and had a clear chest x-ray. The next day, his left lung was totally involved with pneumonia and by afternoon he was on life support. He was in a nationally reknown hospital for pulmonary issues, and nothing–NOTHING even touched the MRSA beast. He passed away the following Tuesday morning. He was only 48.

Praying for all who are battling this monster.

  • Leslie // Jul 3, 2008 at 3:35 am

I will pray for you and all of your family and friends. It must be so hard. There are so many people that have it and think that it won’t kill them. It’s almost like aids, yet everyone knows that kills. Pleople need to be educated about this MRSA. God will always be with you if you ask him to. He’s just waiting for those word to come from you. In fact he’s been there the whole time, yet you are probably wondering where he was when you and your husband needed him the most. And you are probably very angry with him. Please be comforted that God’s on your side. Maybe this happened for you to e-mail this web site to let people know that it can take a persons life as fast as your husbands. And any doctors reading this will get more trained on it . Do you know that this has been around for more then 200 years. Everyone has called it something different. I’m praying for you and asking that he will comfort your heart, and any of your family members. Please let me know if there is anything else that I can do for you besides pray.

Man I am so scared….I think my boyfriend has it….Iam extremley worried and I wish there was someithing I could do for him, can you really die from it and what are the statistics of people dying from this infection?? How contagious is it???

  • gabriela // Jul 22, 2008 at 1:03 am

It was around in the 1900 to now and when Hitler was in power. I’m reading a book from a women who lived through it all. And you know she had no time to think about how bad it felt, she was praying for the Lord to help her live through the holicost. It has been called carbuckle boils when my grandfather was younger. And when my son broke out, that’s what we thought it was, and when we went to the doctor and described it that way, they didn’t have the foggiest what we were talking about. It needs to have a culture done of it and have it sent to a lab. They will test for it. Bactrban is a very strong medicine. It comes in pills and cream. Ask for both if you can. I will pray for you. Don’t give up. God’s with you. By the way our son’s on his way home from prison, one more week and he’ll be here. He’s a miracle because God has proven so many times that he’s there for all of us. You know that when something happens in your life that you might be scared by or a close call, you say thank God it didn’t hit me or we got through that. Your actually thanking God and you don’t even know it.Why not thank him for you being alive every day that you are able to get up and see the beautiful world God has made.
    Prayers for all of you.

I would like to say to all those suffering, pray and keep your heads up. To those who only have negativity to spread, button your lips. What is the point? You act as though you were solicited for your brash and unempathetic commentary. It just isn’t necessary. How do you think people who’s family members died SUDDENLY, W/ NO WARNING, feel? Keep that hogwash to yourself you parasites. You’re feeding off others’ fears.

  • ann blanshan // Oct 2, 2008 at 11:31 pm

Well our son has made it home and we couldn’t be more happy. It’s been just short of 2 months and he has broke out with MRSA again. It has alot to do with stress. When he was living with us, he didn’t have a problem. But where we live he can’t live here. So we had to put him up in a motel. till we could find a place to move to. And the Lord has just opened wide those doors. We are moving the end of this month to a place that is still in our home town, but better then we could have ever believed. And our son will be with us again. But the stress from him having to be away from us again, has caused him to break out again. The doctor we talked too said that in the world to this day. 90% of the world has some form of MRSA. But in the US it’s about 50%. In 10 yrs or so we will be at that 90%. Not good . We need to get ahold of this problem. That’s why it is so important that each of us have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. Because our purpose here on earth is to love our neighbors as we would love ourselves. And to forgive everyone we think has hurts us. It isn’t easy, and you and I can’t do it on our own. Through asking Jesus to help us can we do anything. We keep trying to keep our sons hopes up that God has a plan for his life and that this dosen’t seem fair , but that God loves him and there will be a answer some day soon. If life was to be so perfect for each of us, we would get bored with everything, right. So we have to go through things to help us grow. And each experience that we go through is to some day help us to help someone else. Because we will have gone through it ourselves. So don’t give up my friends, I’m still praying for you who ever you maybe. Seek God first and he will make things new to you.

    Love your friend in Christ

I am researching MRSA and I just came across this webpage. My hometown high school believes that someone on the football team MAY have MRSA. The junior varsity football players were given gloves and instructed by the coaches to clean the mats in their gym. None of the parents were asked if this was ok and my sister found out after they had already been cleaning for an hour and a half. The parents and staff treated my sister like she was overreacting. she asked for her son to be released and expressed how unhappy she was at the fact the junior varsity football players were cleaning the mats. I cannot believe that the school allowed this and that they did not hire or use qualified and/or trained staff to disinfect areas in the school. I am just venting but highly upset after reading the symptoms and cures for this infection.

This is really scary. I give all my wishes and prayers to those who are really diagonosed with this. I was there about a year ago
Nov 1, 2007 at 9:10 pm , as I had originally had wrote. People make it out to be horrible, and it really is. However it doesnt mean you are always going to die !!! I lived through it and it did take some time to heal and go back to normal. It was hard to because my friends never wanted to hangout with me until I was completely healed. As a 7th grader that is really hard expecially being so active and social. Anyways the doctor had no clue at first what these little bumps or rash like things were. My mom did then mention how MRSA is going around in a lot of places and it is becoming common. I reasearched a lot about it and it was known that I had it. I cried a lot because all these stories told me I was going to die. I lived , I’m a survior. A lot of antibiotics cured me. :) I did this all through God. Thankks !

    Pray for those with it

  • Victoria // Feb 16, 2010 at 9:25 pm

I have been dealing with MRSA since 2007. I have been hospitalized countless times. I have been given clyndamiocin, bactrim, and doxicyclin. I almost died in 2008. I was one day away from dying. I have had several abscesses drained and incised. My lung capacity has diminished to 50 percent. I am only 28. I wash my hands constantly and use Lysol and Clorox wipes for everything. I feel like I need to live in a plastic bubble. I pray for a real cure not just a manageable treatment. My prayers are with those who have lost their family members and friends to this awful illness. This may be a plague that will continue to take the lives of millions unless we find a real cure.

    Hello,

If you have issues with MRSA please feel free to contact me in private to discuss possible solutions to your issues. I have read all the posts and several of you are having ongoing issues, wherein, some cases, for years. I am not saying we have a cure, but it has solved issues in our community here in Ontario and Canada and we would sure like to help others out if the results can prove true.

I invite any and all who wish to talk and we have accredited doctors on board from world renowned facilities to support and back up this task at hand. I look forward to hearing from anyone with inquiries and questions.
