Here is an article that was sent to me this morning that is full of misinformation. Dangerous misinformation.
Here is a snippet of it:
The Centers for Disease Control reported last year there were
numerous skin infections across the nation caused by Methicillin
Resistant Staphylococcus Aureus, or Staph as it’s more commonly
known. The infections appeared to be transmitted during sports activities.
With the return of school activities this fall, among them team and
contact sports, risks of exposure to Staph are greatly increased.A press release from Wilson N. Jones Medical Center sites MRSA as a
variant of bacteria called Staphylococcus Aureus that has changed
over time and has become resistant to some antibiotics. It is not
a “super bug.” It is not more infectious than regular Staphylococcus
Aureus.
Why would they refer to it like that, I simply don’t understand. Where is the part about how dangerous MRSA is? Staph infections alone can kill a person, but MRSA is in a whole other class. Ugh.
