MRSA Going Around in Austin Schools

April 30th, 2006 · No Comments

My good ol state of Texas (even though they don’t know how to pick in the NFL draft) is quite good at informing us of MRSA. As I have mentioned many times before, both here, in our forums, and in many of the personal emails I have sent, we were aware of MRSA long before it nearly destroyed our family. Here is an article out of Austin, where a pediatrician is informing us of “Whats Going Around.” Read the whole article, I have snipped out what he had to say about MRSA:

Dr. Meyer is also treating MRSA abscesses. For the past couple of weeks, we’ve told you staph is definitely going around. Well, when this skin infection is left untreated, it abscesses. From mosquito bites to a baby’s diaper rash, any open skin break is susceptible to the bacteria. If you notice kids or adults with a spreading redness or tenderness on their skin, see a doctor as soon as possible.
