Just like in the general populus, MRSA is growing rapidly amongst gay men in NYC. Gay City News has a very good article about the problem with more information that you usually see in these types of articles. They are naturally looking at the statistics in the gay population, but they are just as dramatic amongst the straight folks too. Dr. Mayer also offers some smart advice for all of us:

It’s treatable, it’s curable, but it’s not necessarily all that easy,” he said. “If you have a sore that’s not going away or a painful, red growth that’s not going away, make sure you get medical attention right away.
