Prevent MRSA if Going to the Hospital

December 4th, 2006 · 1 Comment

The UK’s Daily Mail has a helpful list of things you can do to prevent acquiring MRSA if you are going to the hospital. You don’t have to be a patient to get MRSA at the hospital - just keep that in mind.

  • Shower frequently
  • Do not be afraid to ask the staff and visitors if they have washed their hands
  • Do not touch any breaks in the skin or surgical wounds
  • Keep the space around you neat so it can be properly cleaned
  • Be sure your bed and bathroom areas are cleaned regularly.
  • Keep an eye on minor skin problems and watch for changes.
  • Ask visitors to not come in in large groups
  • Ask visitors to wash their hands thoroughly
  • Request visitors to wear clean clothes
  • If you see things that are not being done properly, take action by contacting the infection control team at the hospital.

I would like to see on the internet a list of hospital that are having problems with MRSA .Maybe a monthly check to see how many patient die here in Oklahoma with this problem.I don’t feel the hospital are training there staff to keep thing clean now day. They worst things that has staff is the wheelchair.I bet they never clean them.
With the high cost the hospital charge now day,we have the right to know how clean they are.
I had a good friend that had hip surgery a year ago in Enid,Oklahoma and three week later she died with MRSA.That concerns me a lot.
