Can you guess what they are? The answers might not be what you think:
1. Kitchen Sponges and Dishrags - you can microwave your sponges to kill bacteria - but be sure they are wet when you put them in - they have been known to ignite! I much prefer throwing out the sponges altogether and replacing them with lots of microfiber dishtowels. They do almost as good a job as the scrubby side of the sponges and you can use them once and give them a bath. I also use a tremendous number of paper towels.
2. Cutting Boards - I keep a bleach/water spray bottle for my cutting boards, and I also oil them regularly with mineral oil to keep them from getting so porous!
3. Kitchen surfaces, especially faucet handles (this is true whereever you go - watch those handles and try this nifty product out - it helps!).
4. Sink Drains - Yep, yours too. They are nasty with germy biofilms. Do I have to remind you about the icky plumbed pedicure tubs?
5. Doorknobs. Ick.
6. Toothbrushes - when you have been sick, replace your toothbrush so you don’t reintroduce the bacteria into your system. In fact, replace it frequently anyway. Tooth infections can be lifethreatening.
This is a rather old, but timeless list from Dr. Mercola. Great stuff to keep in mind.
