Spread the word, not the germs

November 9th, 2005 · No Comments

Emily is in Kindergarten this year and we are really lucky to have a great class mom (her school refers to them as class reps). Diane knows quite a bit about the volunteer work we do. Her husband is a dentist, so he is very aware of the necessity for infection prevention protocol. Each parent in the Kindergarten class is invited to come in and talk about their work or a hobby. Guess what my topic is? Yes, handwashing and infection prevention!

There are some great resources out there and Christina asked me to share them with everyone! Here are the links:

Scrub Club: This site is provided by NSF, the National Sanitation Foundation. It has kid-friendly songs, games, coloring pages, etc that can be downloaded

GermStopper: This CDC site is full of resources to use for advocating for infection prevention. I really like the “It’s a SNAP” handwashing info. SNAP is the School Network for Absenteeism Prevention.

I hope these links work. If not, I’m sure Christina will come to my rescue! The information is just great and it’s available for anyone. There are facts, posters and activities that are suitable for different age groups. I know that handwashing isn’t the only answer, but it is an important piece of the puzzle!

[Editor note: Christina has rescued ) Thanks for posting this, Denise!!]
