Tahlequah, OK is Seeing CA-MRSA

September 5th, 2006 · 1 Comment

It is not abnormal for a doctor to misdiagnose MRSA as a spider bite or a more common pimple, as citizens of Tahlequah, Oklahoma are learning - some the hard way. If you are not comfortable with the treatment you are getting from your doctor, seek a second opinion, it could save your life. Be sure not to miss the emphasis on the importance of handwashing in this article either - such a simple thing that really can prevent so many bacterial infection problems.

“When I read the [AP] story, I thought I was reading about my own experience,” said [Dr.] Ahmad. “I just finished treating a 16-year-old who had a serious case of MRSA.”

Ahmad said the boy was, indeed, an athlete who had contracted an infection on his chin that became progressively worse. The boy had been to a different doctor who treated him with two rounds of medication prior to his visit with Ahmad.

“This boy was seen twice by the same physician, and things were not even stabilizing – they were getting worse,” said Ahmad. “I ended up having to admit him [to the hospital], drain the abscess and treat him with antibiotics. I discharged him yesterday.”

It also bears mention that MRSA patients should ideally be referred to an Infectious Disease specialist, who should be very familiar with MRSA by now. If they are not, again, don’t hesitate to seek another.

Cimarron Correctional Facility - Cushing OK - for over three years has had MRSA - won’t admit it is MRSA - this is a CCA Private Prison - keeps prisoners on antibiotics - gives them incorrect meds - over 15 have it. No end in site - they won’t admit it is MRSA.
