This is an awesome article about how 13 year old Lynzee Suske narrowly escaped a very bad battle with MRSA due to the technology of telemedicine. It brings to light the importance of hospitals being at the top of their game in the tech department.
On Nov. 28, Lynzee’s doctors set up a teleconferencing session with Dr. Kourosh Parsapour, a pediatric critical care specialist at the University of California at Davis.
Using a camera and television screen, Parsapour was able to remotely control his camera and zoom in on the girl’s chart, monitors, look at her pallid color and converse with doctors and the family.
Steve Suske, the girl’s stepfather, said Parsapour immediately diagnosed Lynzee’s illness and was able to tell her doctors how to better treat the infection.
“It showed us that we had a doctor at the other end who had more answers than questions,” he said.
Steve Suske said Mercy didn’t seem prepared for using the telemedicine technology.
Be sure and not miss the comments as well, as Lynzee’s father has updated on her progress. She is doing well, hallelujah for that!
