Trying to avoid panic in the Okeechobee Co., FL School Systems

April 26th, 2006 · No Comments

From newszap:

There have been questions and concerns in the community concerning a possible outbreak in staph or MRSA infections within the Okeechobee County school system.“There are only two cases of MRSA currently in the school system and these cases are being treated. Staph and MRSA infections have been around for a good many years and are treatable with antibiotics,” said Patty Maupin, of the Okeechobee County Health Department. “There is no cause for alarm.”

There are 6,964 students in the Okeechobee County school system, not counting those in the four Department of Juvenile Justice facilities. Two students are less than .0003 percent of the school population.
