Leslie Ash, an actress in the UK well known as an advocate for cleaner hospitals, reportedly has initiated a lawsuit against the Chelsea and Westminster Hospital in London where she acquired MRSA during hospitalization in 2004. No more info available at this point, but I will update when I hear more.

how did you go about suing the hosptial where you contracted mrsa? I went in the hospital because my doctor ordered an ct scan of the chest area because I had been having chest pain for some time for over a year off and on upon taking deep breaths. It was found that I had several clots in my lung and required a stay in the hospital for 6 days. Well on the fifth day, it was found that I had MRSA. I believe I had contracted this at the hospital. I was already sick and to know that I had that, I was ready to go home. The staff acted indifferent. One nurse stood at the door rather than coming in my room to see why I had rang. Remember at this point, I didn’t know I had Mrsa. I just thought it was sort of weird for the nurse to stand at the door when a patient calls. So I finally asked her why she was standing at the door and that is when she said “they didn’t tell you that you had Mrsa”. I said “WHAT”!! I am thinking with all the blood work they were doing from 12/8/07 to 12/14/06 they should have been able to see something. I know that it takes two days to culture blood or urine. My question is why did they decide to culture my urine. I feel like either the people they put in the room with me had Mrsa. We were sharing bathrooms. Maybe our urines got mixed up because there was no labeling on the urine bowls that measure our urine output. They also had a very sick woman in the room with me who had a bad chest cold and they moved her out the next day who was bed bound. Then there was a young lady in the room with me who had kidney stones, she left the day before they told me I had Mrsa. I feel the nurse staff knew this all along. I didn’t have mrsa when I came in the hospital, but I had it when I left. That’s why I left the hospital. I was put on antiboitics and have been tested twice for mrsa and they were all negative. I still have nagging thoughts about this. Can I sue the hospital?
Please email with your thoughts

Julie,
My husband took me to the emergency room last Saturday because I was feeling dizzy and had heart palpatations. After testing and a few hours, they let me go home with a clean bill of health. This last Saturday, a week later my husband developed a strange bump with a purple dot in in. We thought it was a spider bite and now he has lots of pimples on his chest. On Monday morning, I woke up with the same big bump on my arm but it is getting much worse than his. I just got back from the emergency room and the doctor suspected MSRP. He gave me a prescription and shoved me away. I’ve never seen anyone rushed out of the emergency room so fast and i found it strange. He didnt do any tests to confirm it. Now I wonder if there is any connection with our getting the infection last week. Do you have any good resources about MRSA? I hope your mom turns around and starts to improve soon.

Thank you all for sharing your experiences. It would be useful to know WHICH HOSPITALS you were treated at so that others may be aware.
