Scientists are aware of a particular strain of MRSA, dubbed USA300 that is spreading throughout the communities in the US rapidly, causing necrotizing fasciitis. This strain is resistant to four classes of antibiotics and scientists are studying it closely to try to find the key to not necessarily kill it, but to cause it to mutate into a harmless form. This is the same strain that attacked the St. Louis Rams last year.

Saw picture/data on TV,immediately recognized it as what I have on my leg past five months. Then recalled my dermatologist casually mentiined “necrotizing-which he had difficulty pronouncing. Treatment was creamMupirocin–with No help. Seen 3 different doctors, one said “healing..do nothing else.” Another gave Tetracycline. I WAS hospitalized TWICE within past yr–bronchitis/Pnuemoniafollowed by Appendectemy–all within ONE MONTH. I am 74 years old sleep alone with NO contact with people or pets. Could I have gotten it from dropping pants in public resttooms? Or is it related to hospital stays? Or spider bite?
