Dear MRSA Resources,
Aug.20th, 2007 was a great day for MRSA and for patient safety! Governor Blagojevich of Illinois signed into law SB233, The MRSA Screening and Reporting Act and it went into effect immediately. Illinois was the first state to start screening all ICU and other at-risk patients admitted to an Illinois hospital. MRSA infection rates will be posted on the state health dept’s website. PA and NJ have passed similar legislation. Jeanine Thomas, A MRSA survivor herself and founder of MRSA Survivors Network initiated the legislation in Jan.07 and the previous year introduced the first mandated screening bill in the US (universal screening in Jan.06). MRSA Survivors Network is working with several other states to introduce and pass similar legislation and if you are interested in introducing mandated MRSA screening and reporting, please contact Jeanine Thomas at jthomas@mrsa-survivors.org. All of us have to work together to pass legislation in each state to eradicate MRSA.

I have ca-mrsa. I have 3 or 4 outbreaks since 2006. am i in danger of dying from this. my doctor just prescribed me 10 days of rifampin. but what i’ve read it sais to use it in conjunction with other staph meds. and i read you should not take it for monotherapy? I’m not even sure if I’m having a break out and she said she didn’t think the bump i was concerned about was mrsa.

I too am a survivor of the MRSA infection. I contracted it during a total hip replacement prc in July 2003.
It has changed my life, tangibly and ephemerally.
I am now all about heightening people’s awareness of MRSA from the gym to my GYN’s office.
It is extremely critical to inform the public about the threat of this bug.
What can I do here in Central Massachusetts in conjunction with MRSAResources to effectuate that?

As a victim of staph and a former caregiver, I have been writing about this for some time. The missing piece in the story of MRSA. VRSA, VRE, TB, c. diff, etc., is the JCAHO destruction of isolation procedures in hospitals going back thirty years. Thank the CDC for that. Isolation is expensive, inconvenient, and works.

I`m so glad I found this sight. My dear friend {a former nurse} has heptitis C and MRSA. Is this a death sentence? She thinks she contacted MRSA about five years ago, since shes still alive does this mean she may have a milder strain?

I had Mrsa in my lungs spent 43 days in drug induced coma and 56 days in the hospital and i made it I am very weak still and wondering how much longer I will feel this way I was in a hospital in ca. now living with family in wa.

I suffered three cardiac arrests and was in an induced coma following a trip to the ER and the summary diagnosis of Acute Infective Pericarditis resultant of a difficult to discover MRSA infection to my pericardium that was secondary to complete systems failure from the same. Initially, my prognosis was very poor and i was not expected to leave the hospital, 5 weeks later, after multiple cardiac arrests and complete system failure, I walked out of the hospital. I am currently convelescing at home trying to put all the pieces back together.

Hello all, I am Mom to Heather who has been hospitalized for preceptal cellulitus (mrsa behind her eyes, along the brain tissue) and 5 superficial (if thats what you call them) out breaks in various soft tissues on her body. She is a very active 14 year old and she single handedly is educating her gymnastics gym and her school friends about MRSA. We recently had a series of death in Massachusetts and it was the talk of the school, Heather was bold enough to share her story and to share how others can keep from contracting and or spreading the infection. It is just so sad that the community does not embrace the education of this serious problem. We are not sure where she contracted this, but we watch her body everyday. What is even worse is the first 2 outbreaks I was told were not contagious. HA! I’d like to rip that nurses head of right about now. sorry. It just makes me mad at how much the Dr’s and Nurses Poo Poo the seriousness of this and people wonder why it is becoming so wide spread. I wish you all a great Thanksgiving for I am thankful my daughter is healthy right now. I am Thankful she did not have brain damage or even worse die. I am keeping my fingers crossed and pray there will be no more infections.

Think I got MRSA from neighbors who were all having symptoms but didn’t inform us about it. I had no idea what it was, thought it was just for hospital patients. They think their daughter got it from pre-school. We were confirmed by our doctors. I told the school about it and took the flyer from the pediatricians office to the teacher. I wish everyone would take responsibility to prevent other dangerous outbreaks.
MomtoHeather // Dec 3, 2007 at 8:01 am
Hibaclens can be purchased at just about any pharmacy. It is the wash my daughter has been instructed to use, it is expensive but seems to work. Ask the pharmacist it is usually behind the counter but not a prescription.
shirley fogge // Dec 8, 2007 at 10:39 am
The medical community was responsible for me getting MRSA and then C-diff for over medicating me with antibiotics. I just spent 12 days in the hospital and am weak and continue to take flagyl, which has caused neuropathy. I am angry that physicians to advise you of the consequesnces of antibiotics. I also have recurrent UTI’s which and a root canal that went bad. 10 antibiotic infusions later I am sicker than I have ever been.

I am looking for an answer – does MRSA reoccur – and if it does how long (years?) Thank you
MomtoHeather // Dec 9, 2007 at 3:15 pm
Penelope,
yes MRSA can reoccur, my best advise to you is find your local infectious disease doctor, speak with them. It was the best thing my daughter and I did, My daughter who is 14, has had MRSA 5 times over the last 12 months. (4 exterior boyle like leasions and one soft tissue infection beihnd her eyes) The DR. was very instrumental in getting her and our household from “giving it back to her” we did not know the source which was our biggest problem. We are on a 6 month regimen of bleaching, cleaning etc. She has her own set of towels and we must bleach sheets and towels weekly, She is not allowed to share or borrow any clothes or make up or personal care items from friends and her friends are aware of this and respect it. Again, I encourage you to find an infectious control physician. If nothing else, to answer your quetions. Good Luck!
Mom to Heather.
teri // Mar 28, 2008 at 2:49 pm
Hi. I too am looking for answers. My mom has had a rash on her abdomen for almost 4 years. We have been told twice it is MRSA, yet noone takes it seriously. They just give her some meds.or cream. She has been extremely sick these last 4 years since the rash appeared. She has fluid around her heart that they are about to remove. My fear is that the MRSA has attacked her heart in some way. All the doctors say she would be on her death bed if this were the case. I just can’t help but wonder if she’s had so many antibiotics along the way if they have somehow kept the heart problems from getting as bad as the doctors say it would be if that were the problem. Any ideas????
Carolyn // Mar 28, 2008 at 4:16 pm
Teri,
I would suggest you go to a good vitamin shop and inquire about getting some powerful herbs. I use oregano oil, rosemary oil, tea tree oil. They will kill anything. Also, try walnut bark for inflamation or parasites. Just look into it, it may help her immune system deal with the problems.

is MRSA airborn? C
MomtoHeather // Mar 29, 2008 at 2:55 pm
no it is not, you must touch it, you can not see it, and it does not die. Unless killed with bleach

LAST JANUARY -26 -08 ~My son (12 ) had a tiny pimple (abscess) on his face, then over night it was red and puffy with pain, also had one on his hair line down below. I took him to the Dr. as soon as I saw how bad, 2 days in..
He knew it was Steph infect. But sent to lab for sure. Yes it was MRSA. The Dr. put him on SEPTRA and said to take hot soaking baths to drain the puss etc. Wash Hands! My poor boy miss school for a wk. and was in alot of pain. Not sure at all how he got this. But it went away after being on SEPTRA. (10 ) We keep and eye on ever little pimple, cut etc.
MARCH -21 -08 BUT I now have 3 pimples on my buttocks that became infected with MRSA. Maybe from the bath tub? Even thought I clean all the time. It was Easter~ I drove alot and I was in so much pain from these 3 pimples
( Abscesses) on my (ass) (1) on check, 2 below check, Hurt like sh_ _ ! Very red, irritated, hot with infection.
Went to the ER because I knew something was very wrong and it was most likely Steph. Yes it was MRSA. They knew right away, but still sent to the lab. They had to inject shootS to numb the area and lance the 3 Abscesses. OMG you talk
about PAINFULL… They put me on (VICODIN) for the pain and Sulfamethoxozole- Trimethoprim ( SEPTRA ) for the MRSA.
for 14 days. Take hot baths 3 times daily etc. It’s been 7 days since the ER and I’m still not sitting on that cheeck, However the pain, abscesses, red skin are all healing just fine. I had to lay around alot. I’m hoping my son and no one else in our family gets this agian, Very Painful! Very scarry. Please Tell Everyone this is a (SUPER BUG INFECTION) Please read more about to prevent from spreading !!!
Thank you for reading…

My daughter has MRSA right now and we’ve been using the STAPHWASH mentioned above for only 12 hrs. and there’s such an improvement all ready!!! Finally something that helps!!!
Sorry so long... // Apr 1, 2008 at 10:33 pm
Good for her! Did you go to the Dr.??
Is she on anything else ~meds?
Dr. Phil is on TV talking it tonight. I’m watching it. Thanks.. Sheri
Cathy // Apr 2, 2008 at 8:16 am
Yes, we went to the doctor last Thurs.. He didn’t really know what to tell us to do. They put her on anti-biotics and said to keep it clean. I started searching on-line for answers. There were none!!!! I finally saw this ad for staphwash we had it overnighted and in less than 24 hrs. it’s over halfway healed!!!!
The doctors didn’t know to tell me not to use anti-biotic cream or peroxide or alcohol which just made it worse!!!!
Also that the bacteria can regenerate within 6 hrs. so you must change the dressings like within 5 hrs to keep it away!!!
Once I started changing that every 5 hrs it’s improved so much; and then with the help of this STAPHWASH it’s totally eradicated it now and is healing very nicely.
I would also suggest a cap of bleach in the bath water to help keep it from spreading to others who might use the bath. This is what we did!
Good Luck and God Bless

It looked like a spider bite on her forarm. After a few days it looked worse(still closed) We took her to the doctor. He broke it open to get the culture.
3 days later it looked HORRIBLE and oozing and she said it hurt SO BAD!!!!
That’s when I got looking and found STAPHWASH! THANK GOD!!!!
I ordered an extra bottle to have on hand for any future cuts or scrapes. To me now it’s like having “syrup of ipecac” in my medicine cabinet.
In this day w/ the MRSA as abundant as it is I will never be without it!!!!
Go to Staphwash.com and check out the news clip~ it’s what convinced me it would work and Thank God I was right!

Hi all,
I have written before and my daughter has been symptom free for 8 months after having gone through 6 bouts or MRSA one that could have killed her (located in the soft tissue behind her eyes), called preceptal cellulittus. Yes this is very painful, the staph wash will cut down the number of bacteria which live on your skin (all of us). We went to see in Infectious disease specialist, here is the 6 month regimen she put our family on. Everyone washes their clothes seperately, everyone has their own set of towels and sheets, all towels and sheets are bleached in hot water weekly, we were prescribed mupericin (this kills the bacteria located in your nose) then you use the mupericin on any cut, scrape or scratch (no popping pimples as it is the puss that is contagious and does not die from normal washing). If you pop a pimple and then do not wash your hands sufficiently it will live under your fingernail. there is the wash you are all talking about and there is another (the name escapes me, I will post it later) most pharmacies carry it, behind the counter. you use this instead of soap, and you wash from the neck down. We had to change all personal care items once a month, razors, deodorant, make up and brushes, shower puff. Like I said we have been symptom free for 8 months. 6 months is the marker they have you do this regimen for, All horizontal surfaces and the entire bathroom should be bleached one a week, sink, toilet all of it. MRSA is invisible, you might touch it and pass it on without ever getting infected yourself, It must enter through an opening, scratch pimple, pour soft tissue (no sharing clothes either during this 6 months. ) We have also been instructed that anytime she goes to an emergency room or is hospitalized or sees a DR. we are not familiar with we have to tell them she has had MRSA and could potentially be a carrier, not for their safety for her safety. Also, when you go to the dentist you should bring along antibactierial mouth wash, rinse thoroughly after the visit, and tell the dentist you and or your child has had MRSA, it is for you and/or your childs protection not theirs. Scenario we were presented with, the Dr. has gloves on touches what appears to be a pimple on the childs cheek, just from general contact while cleaning their teeth, unbebounced to the dentist it was infected, the dentist then touches the inside of you or your child’s mouth and that same part of the glove touches an inflamed gum area, the dentist could have potential just unknowingly transfered the infection to an open wound and it may or may not turn into an infection which may or may not become MRSA and may or may not become cellulittus (which we all know is extremely painful).
OK off my soap box for now. I hope you all find this information helpful. I think it is the Medical field who needs to be educated. I can’t tell you how many medical professionals I have had to educate, My daughter educated the school adn her gymnastics gym. Good luck to all and my heart goes out to those who are struggleing to take control of this visious, under publicized epidemic.
katink // Apr 3, 2008 at 11:44 am
I woke up with two little “spider bites” on March 1st. By March 8th, I had cellulitis, the ER swabbeed it and sent it off. They gave me bactrum and sent me home, never saying anything about MRSA or the possibility of it being contagious. It is April 3rd, I have been in the hospital twice, and have 2 open, bored out holes in my leg that we must pack with gause daily.. They gave me IV antibiotics (vancomycin) for three days and still never told me how contagious it was. Now my room mate has it on the back of his neck. Some public service announcements might be helpful. I am on my third different antibiotic, and praying I haven’t spread this to my grand children.
Cathy // Apr 3, 2008 at 12:33 pm
I can’t stress enough about how well the STAPHWASH is working on my daughters arm!!!!
It looked absolutly HORRIBLE (big pussing hole the size of a quarter) 2 days ago. Now it’s like a stubbed knee looks practically healed!!
I know the doctors are going to FREAK when I take her for her appointment! They’ll prob think that it’s not what she had cause it’s so much better even though it was confirmed by the lab.
Also it was confirmed yesterday afternoon by the vet that our cat has MRSA! Animals (not just cats) can harbor this bacteria and can pass it to humans. We have her on anti-biotics and are using a ointment to colonize the lesions she has as the vet recomended.
Then I spoke to MR. Pate (who owns the staphwash company) about my cat and they have a cream to put on the animal that completely kills the bacteria like the staphwash does on humans.
24 hrs. ago I would have been mortified to find out that my cat had it too but since I’ve seen the MIRACLE of what this staphwash can do I’m nowhere near as concerned cause I know we’re going to kill the MRSA on the cat too!
I wish I could attach pictures of the difference it made in just hours on here. But I do know that on http://www.staphwash.com you can see pictures of others that have had it and how this worked for them too! Good Luck and God Bless!!

Katina,
Oh My Gosh, I can’t believe what fool ER you went to.. I’m so sorry, I know how painful that is. ! Wow~ your roomate has it.. poor thing. How was his contact with you?
Out of the 3 I had on my back side, 1 had to be packed also. My big fear is that mine will heal on the outside, but not as well on the inside on the infected spot. And I will get it again. It like leaves a hard spot under the skin.
I don’t dare have sex…
Yes the public needs to be very aware of this MRSA infection. I have contacted our School District Nurse to advise of this infection. My ER Dr. told me that 70% of people coming in for skin swores has MRSA. At that location anysways. And what we read or hear about in our towns, doesn’t even come close to the real high numbers of infected MRSA cases. Ya, I’m pissed! Feel free to ask me questions and keep up informed! Good Luck!! Sheri

No they aren’t. I wish they were!!! lol
No it’s just that I looked and looked for some way to clean it and there was nothing anywhere on how to do it. Does anyone know?
Cathy // Apr 3, 2008 at 1:44 pm
No I don’t know. Sorry! They broke open the boil on my daughters arm to get the culture. and got it off the lesions on the cat. Cathy
katink // Apr 5, 2008 at 11:26 am
I haven’t heard of a screening for MRSA, but they need to develope it if it does not exist yet. My contact with my room mate is purely platonic, so we are VERY concerned about the actual degree of transmission possibilities. I am also concerned that mine will not heal properly. Cathy, I would have loved to have tried the staph wash before I had the 2″ deep wound I am sporting now. They went in and bored out more damaged tissue yesterday and re-packed it…8 inches of gauze now, and just getting bigger…also, they changed my oral anti-biotic AGAIN…I am begining to think that the health care community has no clue and are just guessing….call me holy frustrated
Nicole // Apr 5, 2008 at 1:52 pm
katink,
I’m in a healthcare setting daily and I have cared for many patients with MRSA. MRSA is quite easy to diagnose. You could ask the doctor for a culture and sensitivity test for the exudate from your wound. MRSA is extremely contagious so there is some cause for concern regarding your roomate. In general it isn’t transmitted by air unless you have a respiratory infection. Usually the transmission of MRSA can occur through infected shared towel, linen, clothing etc. I would ask for the culture now because if you are positive for MRSA you may need to be admitted for IV antibiotics and sterile dressing changes. Arresting MRSA is very important as this bacteria can enter the blood stream and cause serious health problems.
Cathy // Apr 5, 2008 at 3:10 pm
Katink, My Lord! I feel for you! That must hurt like hell! I am praying for you!!
I just know that if we hadn’t ordered the staphwash that my daughters story would be alot different. I would probably be at the hospital with her RIGHT NOW.
I truely believe that this stuff saved her arm and possibly her life. This is a scarey bacteria!!!!!
I told my daughters doctors about staphwash yesterday and showed it to them. The doctor was very interested in it because of the rapid healing that my daughters site showed.
They said it was completely safe to keep using it until it heals completely and that with the improvement of her wound not to take any more anti-biotics because the infection is gone. IT’S GONE!!!!!! This stuff is amazing! It’s truly a gift from heaven!(for our family anyway!)
I know that it’s not in evereyones budget, especially with all the doctors visits etc.. but I can’t stress to you enough that it CAN help!! You sound like you really need it!! One $40 bottle and my daughters done. I’d pay $1000.00 for it if she ever got another one cause I know it works!!!
It’s worth it cause she’s no longer suffering! She’s not contageous and can go back to a normal life.
Granted we were lucky to get this early, but it’s never too late!! You need to kill that bacteria and as soon as you do it starts healing .
One thing we did to keep from passing it was everytime we changed the bandaid we wore gloves and put the old bandaid in a ziplock bag with the infected gloves and got it out of the house.
Then using new gloves put the staphwash on to clean it and the new bandaid back on.
Make sure if it’s oozing to keep it clean ,DRY and covered. The stuff that comes out of the wound is EXTREMELY contageous, so make sure the bandaid is big enough to cover it completely and that it’s pad will absorb the discharge.
We used waterproof (but breathable) bandaids just in case the bandaid got full so it wouldn’t leak out the top and contaminate.
Also we got lots of yogurt products which help the anti-biotics work (and hopefully keep her from getting a yeast infection)
I found out that the bacteria re-generates every 6 hrs. So we made sure and changed it every 4 or 5 hrs to stay ahead of the bacteria.
Hope maybe this will help you some, but my best piece of advice is still to look into the staphwash. Good Luck and God Bless!! Cathy
Robert Klassen // Apr 5, 2008 at 4:13 pm
According to their web site, the active ingredient in StaphWash is sodium hypochlorite. That is chlorine bleach, like Clorox. A 10% solution – one ounce Clorox to ten ounces water – will kill any bacteria, including MRSA.
Cecily // Apr 5, 2008 at 4:39 pm
Robert does that mean I can skip the $40, and just dilute bleach? I have met a couple of people who cannot afford the stephwash, and my heart breaks for what they`re going through.
Robert Klassen // Apr 5, 2008 at 5:09 pm
Cecily: I would. Here’s my staph infection: http://www.lewrockwell.com/klassen/klassen111.html
I cured it with 10% bleach with a drop of dish soap added for penetration. You can disinfect your house, car, whatever with this stuff. That’s why they use it in public swimming pools.
Sorry so long... // Apr 5, 2008 at 5:28 pm
Cathy,
That’s great your daughters getting better so fast. The pictures you sent me looked so painful. It was really big. My worse one was just about 1/2 the size of her’s. I started the Antibiotics on March 25th . After going to the ER, The DR. put me on Septra ( Anti) for 14 days. How long did your daughter takes her’s ?
Althought she was on something else too..right? I find it hard to believe
the Dr. said to stop the Antibiotics, even if the spot is healing nicely….you should always finish the full antibiotics to completely get the virus gone.
Katina, Wow I agree with what Cathy said about taking care of it. Maybe see another Dr.
I am still cleaning everything with bleach and being very careful. I don’t want this sh– again!
Good Luck everyone!!
Cathy // Apr 5, 2008 at 6:02 pm
They started her on the anti-boiotics on March 27th ( 10 days)
She takes her last 1 tonight at 7pm then she’s done.
They don’t want her on them anymore ’cause the infection is gone!
KILLED!
They don’t want you taking them if you don’t need them ’cause then it won’t kill it off if there’s a next time.
But I know there won’t be a next time ’cause we’re armed with STAPHWASH!!

How’s everything healing? I just read about your family on WQAD in Illinois. Wow~
I’m in California~
I still have a tiny bit not healing. I’m trying to get a Dr. Apt. With me sitting on my sores it’s hard to get better. Care to send another recent
pix of your Kass’s spot on her arm?
Thanks.. S

Ok…I have diluted bleach and sterile water (a domboro soak) 30 parts sterile water to 1 part household bleach and started wet to dry soaks on the spots on my leg for the last 2 days. As of this morning, the smaller of the two is so much improved that it no longer takes any packing at all. The larger one still looks mean, but has pinked up. Thank you Robert for reminding me about this simple old school remedy for wound care. If this heals my sores I will blog about this non stop. It seems to me like the whole medical community is making a HUGE profit off of something that can be healed so simply.
Sorry so long... // Apr 10, 2008 at 8:36 am
Katina, That’s great!! The spot’s need to heal from the inside out, no scabs. Keep Ointiment on them & covered.
Hello Cathy,
Just a up-date~
I’m using bleach on everything I can. I keep a spray bottle in my bathroom to wash everything I touch and the shower. I don’t wiped my healing MSRA spot with bleach, Maybe I should have?I just use Hydrogen Peroxide and wipe the area with 70% rubbing alcohol, then I put Triple Antibiotic Ointment and I keep a big bandaid over the whole area. The bandaids are really bothering my skin. I’m going back to the Dr. this morning to see what he thinks. If I need to keep it covered and if they can swob for a lab test again. I’m so worried about getting this MSRA again. I’m sure I’m over reacting as my spot’s are all closed up pretty much. Nothing draining from them. But I just need to make sure I don’t spread this. Keep intouch~ S
Cathy // Apr 10, 2008 at 10:42 am
Here are some guidelines that are out there on MRSA ~
Recent publications advise against two currently marketed antiseptics.
The National Safty Council’s 1996 First Aid Pocket Guide states ” DO NOT use hydrogen peroxide . It does not kill bacteria, and it adversly affects capillary blood flow and wound healing.”
And the Handbook on Nonprescription Drugs states ethyl alcohol “is not a desirable wound antiseptic because it irritates already damaged tissue. The coagulum(crust) formed may, in fact protectan the bacteria.”
These products are harmful for you to use if it is a MRSA infection.
and NEVER put triple anti-biotic ointment on it!!!!!!
as those are the antibiotics that don’t work on MRSA (Penicillin based) that’s why they have to prescibe other stronger antibiotics. by putting that on there you are killing the good bacteria and not the MRSA so it can grow like crazy then!!!!
Please if anything clean it with
1tsp dawn dishsoap(to clean out the dirt and oil)1/2 tsp of bleach (to kill the bacteria) mix in small cup put on w/ q-tip and rub hard to break through to the bacterias core.
Keep it covered with a DRY bandage.
Make sure to change the bandage every 4-5 hrs
as the bacteria regenerates in 6 hrs time so if you clean it and every 4-5 hrs you stay ahead of the bacteria.
These are the steps we followed w/ my daughter until the STAPHWASH arrived . She said it stung a little but after it felt so much better.
Good Luck and God Bless!!! Cathy

Also ask your doctor about ALTABAX(retapamulin ointment)1% It’s the newest prescription ointment specifically for MRSA. I’m afaid because it’s new it’s very expensive, but her doctor gave me a few sample tubes and said t clean the wound with the staphwash then put this on it.it’s helping to heal it nicely. Good Luck Keep me posted!! Cathy

Oh Geez…
The ER Dr. Told me to wipe are with the alcohol & they gave me Antibiotic ointment to use before covering the spot.
I’ll tell the New Dr. today…

They should’ve done a sensitivity test when they did the culture
(which shows what antibiotics the strain you have is sensitive too or what ones will help kill it!!! )
Ask your doctor about tetracycline.(normally for acne) it’s been proven t be sensitive to MRSA in many cases Not as expensive an ointment as the new one I mentioned (ALTABAX) Good Luck Let me know what the doctor says Cathy We’ll get the word out about this!!!!

My husband and I are distributors of a product called StaphWash. It is actually a topical solution that kills 100% of the staph (MRSA) bacteria so the body can heal itself. When it is dropped into the wound it spreads like oil in water and penetrates the skin to clean it on a cellular level. Our bodies are made to heal themselves and will without impediments. It doesn’t interfere with anything the doctors are doing and has no known allergic reactions. We are making it available through our websites with free shipping and a 100% money back guarantee. If anyone has a problem with staph, check out our website for more information or call: David or Marion Cuttino 877-275-6853

I had MRSA in 2007 from a hip replacement. After 7 months, 3 months without a hip, with Vancamyacin each day through a pic line during those months I finally got over it. If I have to have another surgery of any kind, am I in danger of MRSA again since I’ve had it previously?

Hi, I have read several posts on MRSA notes and my family has suffered horribly from this disease. I realized that MRSA notes is hard to find info on unless you are part of a post. So I am posting this again. Here is what worked for my family. I am not a doctor but doctors have actually given this info to thier patients. Of course serious infections do need medical attention. It is a scary thing. I wish the medical community would be more open to natural remedies. My family has also been sick much less often since we have been doing all these things.
I have 5 kids one with Cystic Fibrosis. 2 of my kids where hospitalized on IV antibiotics. One got it in his bone and lost the tip of his finger in an emergency surgery. I saw several doctors & 2 infectoius disease doctors who told me to give bleach baths to my children wash everything give more & more bactrium & there was nothing else I could do.
After following thier orders for a year and 6 months .I was so exhausted from bathing and cleaning everything. Nothing seemed to help. We also used bactroban and that anti mrsa soap that I can not remember the name of at the moment I do remember that it will make you blind if you get it in your eyes. As soon as one kid would get off an antibiotic another one would get it.
When my daughter with CF was hospitalized because it was in her lungs and her lung function drastically declining. I had had enough. So I stayed on the internet for 3 days straight reading everything I could find from alternative sources. so here is what has kept us MRSA break out free for so long.
Ok after 32 MRSA infections in my family we have relief. God answered our prayers Colliodal silver. I hope this helps. I experimented on myself with all these and then my children with doctor approval of couse. But only 2 of our many doctors approved. The others think me crazy. All I know is It works. I encourage you to research on the web like I have done. There is great help for this curse of MRSA but not from modern medicine. My father is a physician and helped me in my research. He has always been against natural remedies but he is a very smart man and realized this was the only thing that would help my family. I have also gotten great help from my friend who is a pharmacy tech here locally. They now carry many of these products at the pharmacy and recommend them to others because of the results my family has had. She gave me permission to post her name & number if you would like to call Deedra at Moulton’s Pharmacy 850-682-6136
Sorry this is so long Here is the important info
COLLIODAL SILVER – Best brand Sovereign Silver http://www.natural-immunogenics.com/ you can also find it at most health food stores. There is a pharmacuetical grade version
Silver is a natural antibiotic. Will kill Mrsa infection also helps with pain if you apply to a boil. If you research there is incredible info about it. It is silver nitrate they put in babies eyes when they are born to prevent blidness from bacteria. Silver would have been used by physicians today if they had not discovered penecillin at the same time they were doing silver research. At that time because silver is natural no patent they could make more money with penicilin.
TURMERIC – Indian spice – in capsule version – there is also a liquid for kids. Should be available at any health store. It is a natural anti inflamatory. Helps with inflamation around boils and drainage.I have read recently that they have had good results in test they have done with turmeric and finding a cure for alzhiemers.
NATURAL CALM – This stuff is fabulous helps restore magnesium levels in the body which I have read about lowering the PH etc where MRSA flourishes in our alkaline bodies when we do not eat right and exercise our PH gets off balance. Plus the Raspberry lemonade tastes awesome. Have to say it really does help alleviate stress too. Don’t take too much or it will give you runny stools. The MAGNESIUM is the main thing so if this is too much for your tummy just try a magnesium supplement to restore good PH
http://www.vites.com/catalog/index.php?main_page=index&cPath=68
PROBIOTICSā These have been a life saver. We take them daily. I started these because I read that if there is good bacteria present bad bacteria cannot grow this is the good bacteria. They have them for kids adults and critical care. Not to mention the fact that my daughter and I were plagued by yeast infections with every antibiotic we took. Until we found these.Ultimate vaginal flora 50 billion cultures when on antibiotics and have never gotten another yeast infection. She did not even get one when she was on the IV antibiotics in the hospital. http://www.renewlife.com/Probiotics/
BORAX added to the laundry for cleaning I have found it at both Publix and target the brand is 20 mule Team Borax it changes the PH in the laundry to more basic so it kills the MRSA like bleach without changing the color of your clothes.
MR Clean Multi Surface for all hard surfaces & bath tubs etc but if you read the directions you have to spray it and let it stand for 8 minutes before wiping to ensure it kills the bacteria. It is the only cleaner other than bleach that kills MRSA that I have found. I hae asthma and bleach makes me have attacks. Mr. clean does not and smells much better.
Baking soda in the bath if bleach is too harsh and we use antibacterial body wash
ECO QUEST air filter. This is the website for the one similar to what we have in my house. It says it kills MRSA on surfaces. All I can say about it is that it definitely helps my asthma. It got dirty and we turned it off for a few days. My whole family was coughing and had asthma flare ups and Megan got MRSA on her skin again. We immediately started the silver and other things listed above and got rid of it. I also cleaned the unit and turned it back on right away. The guy who sold us ours is Don Fowler he is a respiratory therapist and his information is listed below. though I am really not sure about this as another friend tried it and was not happy with it at all. you can research & decide for yourself http://www.thinkoutsideinside.com/
Don Fowler RRT
Registered Respiratory Therapist

I have to say I am amazed that all this stuff works I have to credit my father the doctor as. he helped me find many of these products. For a family who suffered for almost 2 years battling MRSA with no end in sight it is nothing short of a God sent miracle.
I do not know if this will work for everyone but it has worked for us spledidly! It is certainly is worth trying. I do recomend doing your own research and speaking with an open minded physician,or pharmacist.
Good luck to all of you batteling this disease!!!

Forgot to mention the most important part of my previous post. We are going on a year & eight months with no MRSA break out that needed medical attention. Although my daughter with CF did get some spots on her tummy when we went in the gulf of Mexico we stepped up the Silver and it went away. I later read an article where they tested 11 beaches and found Mrsa in the water on 7 of the 11 beaches. It really is everywhere

Re Hospital acquired infections:
Medizone International is in the final testing stage of a hospital sterilization system.
A selected hospital area (surgical suite, etc) is infused with ozone gas which goes EVERYWHERE–walls, ceiling, floor, and inside electronic equipment–EVERYWHERE.
Within minutes, the system converts ozone back to oxygen.
COMPLETE STERILIZATION…99.9999% of harmful pathogens are killed.

It is my hypothesis that the “secular trend,” the increase in size and earlier puberty occurring in children, is caused by an increase in the percentage of individuals of higher testosterone. More specifically, I suggest this is due to an increase in the percentage of mothers of higher testosterone with time within the population. This exposes more fetuses to increased maternal testosterone with time within the population. I suggest this is the cause of the parallel increase in morbidity occurring within the population, such as obesity, cancer and breast cancer, diabetes, etc., including “failing schools,” and increasing infections.
I have explained this connection with increased infections at: http://www.anthropogeny.com/Increased%20Infections,%20Testosterone,%20and%20DHEA.htm .

I have been diagnosed with MRSA in my sinus cavities. Is this curable? This has been going on for a year now.
MomtoHeather // Mar 30, 2010 at 9:06 am
You should have received Mupericin for a 3 day regiment nose swab. I’m not a doctor but that is where MRSA lives (colonizes) I believe. And be washing with a special wash, I am sorry the product name escapes me at the moment. (its over the counter in our state).
On another note: Heather is now over a year without a MRSA outbreak. (we followed the DR. regimen strictly.
Also on another note: However she is suffering from an Autoimmune disorder called (CIDP) Chronic Inflamatory Demyelinating Polyneuropothy. Yikes oh munda, will the illnesses ever end… We are in the hospital every 3 weeks for 2 days and I pray every time she does not get a MRSA infection….. They know she is a carrier and they take precautions, but still.
Anything else and I’ll be needing a room…the kind with padded walls.
Hope everyone is going better.

Hi!
I recently was diagnosed with MRSA. 5 or 6 of my friends have had it in the past year, so I knew of its’ existence, but had avoided getting it myself until very recently it reared its’ ugly and painful head on my right knee. After being admitted it was evident to the doctors that I HAD had it on my leg on several other locations to a much less degree of severity. My calf and ankle were also swollen significantly and the doctors feared the infection had spread to the blood. They lanced the abscess and put me on Keflax and Sulfamethoxalone for 10 days, as well as Vicodin for pain and hot baths etc. The pain is gone and I am walking again, which is huge. It looks as though the infection didnt get to the blood, which is also awesome. It’s funny how something like this can make you stop and reevaluate. I’m wondering what the time line is for the actual wound itself healing? It’s been 2 weeks now and it’s healing but slowly. I’ve been keeping it covered in Bacitracin and wrapping it.
Also, I’m living in NYC and spend a lot of time up in northern MA/southeast NH. Do you know of any groups I can do volunteer work with to spread information about MRSA and hopefully prevent others from having to deal with this dangerous and unpleasant disease?
Thanks in advance for your help.

Hi,
From what I have learned people do not want to talk about this, I am very glad to hear you do. We are from Lunenburg, MA. My daughter is her own best advocate, she helped her Gym put together an informational packet as well as talk to the kids about it. I woudl find a good infections disease Doc. The things you are doing we have been told not to do. I can’t tell you what to do I am not a doc.
Our infections Doctor told us that the infection needs air to dry. If you keep it moist you are keeping a breeding ground for the MRSA to thrive in. We also use Mupericin not an antibiotic on cuts and scratches. Did they say anything about bleaching your bed linens and towels?? It is hard to kill the MRSA infection (Puss) once it touches something. What about washing with a staph soap? Hibiclens (spelling might be off a bit) If we run out of Mupericin we buy Staphosept overthecounter, it comes in purse size packets. Feel free to email me if you would like. Lia6218@hotmail.com. I can share with you what we know, but I would strongly recommend an infectious disease Dr. (the regular ones seem to be smart but just not smart enough for MRSA)>
Good Luck and I hope things get better for you.
PS. it takes quite some time for the wound to heal, I want to say months depending on how big it is,

Just wanted to say a big thank you to momtoheather. I am a RN and have reoccuring infections of mrsa boils all over my body and have been treated with many different antibiotics. I have a 7, 2, and 1 year old that have recently gotten boils as well. I wish I would have read your post long ago!!! I knew that these were serious but being a busy mother did not take them serious until they popped up in my kids. Bleaching towels and keeping them seperate makes so much since now. Thanks again,
Julie

My prayers to you all. I feel for you all so much. On June 30th I lost my beloved husband. For several years he kept on getting recurring tumors and each time they were tested as benign. After 4 years we finally got a diagnosis. He had Angio Immuno Blastic Lymphoma. We were going to beat this cancer as that was our plan. However, at his stay at the hospital he developed MRSA Pneumonia. He did not have a chance. However, doctors kept on insisting to me that he did. After being on vancomcin for almost two weeks they decided to discontinue so that they could continue just with the steroids alone that they had given to him for only several days for his cancer. My beautiful husband died he did not have a fighting chance. I am now a widow with four children. The irony is that he did not die from the cancer that he was diagnosed with he died from sepsis shock at least that is what the death certificate will state. I ordered that an autopsy be done and guess what?? they did say it was sepsis and yes they did say it was also an abscess with puss on his lungs. However, MRSA was not going to be noted on death certificate. We need to come together and try to fight this horrible bacteria. A hospital should be the most pristine and sterile place that you set foot on. However, it is not and as a result our loved ones are dying, yours and mine, and nothing is being done as MRSA the deadly bacteria is not being noted as reason for death on death certificates. Shame on us if we continue as business as usual. I will do what I possibly can to make sure that everyone from the news media to the president is aware of my story!!! What will you do?

It is huge the effort that is being put out. I commend you for helping others through your words and watching you on channel five was of a very brave woman who will do anything to protect her family. We all love you and support you at this very trying time.

Hi, I’m Patrick, 30 years old an have been suffering with mrsa for over 5 years. I have been to 5 different doctors an none of them have been able to clear this up, what do I do? I have taken all kinds of antibiotics an now I am trying tumeric, 100% tea tree oil an washing with tea tree oil bodywash. It seems to be helping some but I have been on this for over 2 months an not much results. If you have an answers for me on what I can do, I would be willing to try anything.

Patrick, Hibiclens is what we use. I know how important homeopathic is…unfortunately, this is bigger than that. Go see an infectious disease specialist. Every Hospital has one.. or I think they do. Read all of the blogs, there is a lot of good stuff. MRSA is contageous even to yourself. Good Luck I know how frustrating it is and how much it sucks… we have come a long way and a lot of persistance has really paid off. Medicine is in your hands. not in the hands of your doc. make them work for their money you pay their salary……..
D'AAmber Quinones // Jan 21, 2011 at 4:24 am
Hi Patrick-I hope you are fine…I have not been on this site in quite a while. I would advise you to go at this more on a holistic end. You can also try resveratrol or fenugreek…it is supposedly good for building up the immune system and clearing infections of any sort. Good Luck and I hope all turned out well for you…Sincerely, Amber

Maggie
i have had MRSA for 6 yrs. hospitalized 1/2 dozen times. i believe i am one of the worst cases to survive in this country.
no one has gotten it from me! including children living with me. you and roommate need to be pretty clean. if roommate has drainage then dont share stuff – including cloth covered furniture. i use a lot of clorox when i am “leaking” and i stay in my room.
remember it can be bloodborn. that can also include saliva so just do not share used cups, etc. i am not a doctor but i have lived it. if she stays clean (laundry, wash dishes, etc.) , maintains her health and/or uses precautions when she has outbreaks, and uses common sense you should be fine.
now if she does not do the above you should remember that MRSA can be 15 times easier to get than AIDS (depends on what study you read) with a higher death rate.
again i use common sense any stay clean (person & enviroment) and have lived with children for 6 years with one of the worst cases that the VA has ever treated and have NOT passed it to anyone……..hope this helps, rob
